Format of Writing Skills on a Resume

Format of Writing Skills on a ResumeThe format of writing your resume is very important. After all, your resume is the first thing that is read by the employer when they are looking to make a decision as to whether or not to hire you. So, you want to make sure that your resume is formatted correctly to create an instant impact for your application.First, you should know that there are many forms of writing a resume. You need to find out what types of formats you can use for your resume to get the results that you want.First off, there is the single page resume. This is the easiest to format and most common for people that want a quick resume. It is important to keep your resume short, sweet, and to the point. The easiest way to do this is to create bullet points for each paragraph. The next type of format is the standard resume. This is what everyone else has used and is probably what you will most likely use too. It is also the standard format that most employers will see before they decide to hire you.Another type of format is the chronological resume. This is another easy way to format your resume. The only downfall to this format is that it can be difficult to come up with a good title for your resume. You have to put a great title in the beginning of the paragraph.A fourth type of format is called a one-page resume. This format is a little more difficult to format and use effectively, but is also more likely to give you the desired results that you are looking for. It takes more time to come up with a good title, but it is worth it for the flexibility that this format can provide. After knowing which format to use, it is time to think about how you want to fill in the blanks on your resume. There are so many different options that you can use for the sections of your resume. Some examples include section titles, the length of your education, your job experience, the kinds of jobs you have held, and other things.Remember that when you are using the format of writing skills on a resume, you should be able to fill in the blanks for the sections. This will help make your resume more accurate and improve your chances of getting hired.

Why Not Holding Yourself Back is Your Greatest Business Asset -

Why Not Holding Yourself Back is Your Greatest Business Asset - What if you could create your business from out of the box just by being as different as you are? You don’t have to be outrageous to stand out and be successful. You already have that with you but are you letting it all shine through? Are you holding yourself back? Here are three ways you can embrace all of you and bring it out to play in your business and life: Know that you can  Sometimes we may look at some situations in life as if they were bigger than us. And this is something you can start to change by changing the way you think about yourself. Yes, you can achieve more by harboring nice thoughts about yourself. Say you’re going to a job interview and you would like to feel more secure in yourself. If you have the point of view that you are going to fail and that you are going to mess it up, what are you most likely going to create? Strangely enough, our point of view creates our reality. So, before going to that job interview, look at yourself from many different angles. The same way you pay attention to the clothes you wear to an interview, be aware of the thoughts you have about yourself. Don’t let them lead you to where you don’t want to end up. Ask: is this point of view conducive to where I want to go? If you answer ‘yes’, keep going. If not, erase it and replace it with something that creates more for you! Don’t follow other people’s models for success There are many people who can’t decide what they are going to do with their lives; they are interested in so many things   sometimes completely disparate things! Quite often they are people who study or try lots of different fields, jobs and interests (sometimes even at the same time), stay for a short while, and then leave or drop out before finishing and moving onto something else. They are often curious, talented people, who don’t actually care about going deep into the details of one specific thing, but they may be skilled and interested in many different things. Although they are frequently judged as uncommitted, inconsistent, or not having the capacity to follow through, they are always coming up with something new and innovative, and tend to function at a very different speed. What if they didn’t drop a class or leave a job not so long after starting because they don’t know what they want? What if they’ve actually gotten what they were looking for and didn’t need to stay, because they’re already done? And what if it’s not wrong to be done sooner than others? What if it’s not wrong not to finish everything you start? If you don’t follow anyone else’s model or judge yourself as inconsistent or a quitter what if it’s just a different rhythm of functioning? What if you moving from one thing to the other is actually how things work for you? And if you didnt judge it, how could you begin to use it to your advantage? All of your experience counts! Do you include all of your abilities and talents, even the ones that you don’t have a formal degree or qualification for?  Rather than separate your abilities, interests and talents as those of value or not of value, what if you started integrating them into your life and business and see what shows up? What capacities do you have that you have not valued or included in creating your business before now? What would change if you did? The apparently unrelated areas of knowledge, experience and interests you have, may be able to be combined in creative and generative ways how much fun could you have playing with that? Rather than trying to create business from the perfect model or formula, the “right” expertise or way of studying or working, what if the greatest asset in business was you being yourself and creating exactly the way that works for you? By not holding you back, you are the difference that your business requires to create more than you currently believe is possible. 8 Job Search Trends You Should Expect in 2020

8 Job Search Trends You Should Expect in 2020 The new year always brings some exciting new developments in the job market with it. Sometimes it’s tax cuts, news about internships, other times tax increases. New tech impacts the business world, and perhaps new job opportunities have arisen?   Whatever the case, job seekers have to try and stay in the know â€" the more information you have about the popular trends, the better you’ll be prepared for your job hunt.   So, whether you’re freshly out of high school, or newly out of a job, these are the top job search trends that you can expect as a job seeker in 2020.   Soft Skills Are Still Highly Sought After   In 2019, about 7 million jobs were unfilled! The number is very likely to be even higher in 2020 because of the rising skills gap that doesn’t seem to be anywhere near closing up.   But what kind of skills are missing? Which skills should you build up if you want to find a job? By the looks of it, it’s the soft skills will be in high demand in 2020.   Those are also known as interpersonal skills â€" communication, collaboration, problem-solving, creative thinking, etc.   This means that emphasizing your soft skills in your resume will bring you a step closer to finding a job.   Skills Shortage and Learning Opportunities   Because of the skills shortage, many employers are providing their workers with new learning opportunities.   42% of companies have increased their employee training budgets in the previous year, and the trend is bound to continue.   Companies are more focused on creating talent pools and searching to fill their vacant positions from within the company by offering training courses and skill-building opportunities to the current employees. They also offer internships to aspiring young adults   While this might not be great news for those without a job, it is ultimately a positive trend. Employees will be able to advance in their careers, and recruits will be more likely to stay with a company longer.   Applicant’s Experience Takes the Stage   Diplomas, certificates, and just the overall educational background will always be relevant to employers. However, job experience is what matters the most and what will matter the most in 2020.   So, it’s crucial for job seekers to fill their CV with as much information as possible about their previous experience.   Younger applicants should sign up for high school internships, volunteering, or find part-time jobs as closely related to their dream jobs as possible.   A Rise in Freelancing Careers   About 34% of the US national workforce currently consists of freelancers. While just a few years ago, this was seen as a negative trend, many are embracing it, and we’re bound to see even more freelancers in 2020.   Freelancing jobs aren’t traditionally considered to be stable or to be offering many benefits. Still, many companies are starting to appreciate the so-called “portfolio careers” and are trying to fill their vacant positions with freelancers.   Perhaps you don’t consider freelancing as a valid career path for yourself, but this is an excellent opportunity for networking and building relationships with many employers, and this can bring many benefits.   The Growing Remote Workforce Will Create More Opportunities   Remote working can be beneficial to both employees and employers, so the number of remote positions is currently on the rise.   Over 4.3 million people in the USA currently work remotely for at least half the time, and more fully remote positions are being opened every day.   For job seekers, this means that they can expand the job search to different cities and even different countries.   You’re no longer limited by simple geography, and can rather easily find positions you’re qualified for wherever they are.   Optimize for AI   AI has entered the HR recruitment process and is currently taking over its initial stages. AI is primarily used for pre-screening job applicants and going through all the CVs.     This is both good news and bad news for job seekers.   On the one hand â€" this will ensure that those applicants with the right skills and experience don’t get overlooked by accident.   It also removes any biases from the recruitment process, so each applicant has a fair opportunity of getting the job.   On the other hand, this requires job applicants to be very specific and to the point in their resumes. They cannot hide a gap in their experience by using a particular resume format or by explaining it.   Fingers Crossed for More Employee Benefits   The low unemployment rates and the high skills gap can prove to be very beneficial to all the job seekers out there.   The competition is fierce. Studies show that 90% of the SP 100 are recruiting for the same 37 in-demand jobs. This means that companies are trying to be as appealing to job seekers as possible.   To attract and retain talent, companies in 2020 will offer valuable employee benefits in addition to health insurance, dental insurance, and the likes. You can expect offers for:   Transportation reimbursement   Student debt repayment   Paid medical leave   Family planning   Even pet insurance   Companies are doing all they can to attract candidates, and this can be very lucrative for job seekers.   Social Recruiting Is Becoming More Commonplace   Since most businesses have their own Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat accounts, it’s no wonder that they’re using their social media for attracting top talent.   This is commonly known as “social recruiting,” and it’s a growing trend that you should pay attention to.   If you want to find a well-paying job, you should follow the companies that are of interest to you across different social media platforms.   Many will post job openings on social media, and this will be a perfect opportunity for you to find a career that suits you.   The Bottom Line   The turn of the decade is set to be very interesting for the job market. Many new opportunities and internships are expected to arise for job seekers.   And many companies are finding innovative ways to attract job candidates.   These are just some of the trends that we’re bound to see in 2020. Stay informed if you want to find a job that suits you well.

Research has shown that increased adoption of mobile apps has been found to boost employee productivity, efficiency, workflow, and satisfaction.evalMobility has now become a powerful strategy for the business and so cannot be ignored. However, correct apps need to be used to achieve this effect. Why is a responsive intranet/extranet no longer the best choice? The needs and mobile habits of the users have changed. Users are now very less likely to visit a website by typing the web address if a mobile app exists for the site, blog, or portal. People are going for digital brands these days that have translated to apps or subscriptions.Though website designs are responsive, they are slow and cumbersome and get the job only half done. Moreover, typing web addresses on mobile and navigating between tabs is weird and doesn’t create a smooth web experience on mobile as it is on our desktop PCs.Most stakeholders and employees of businesses are working and reading on the move. Web pages have proven to be too static content in this new context. In fact, a lot of effort is needed to find and visit these pages, unlike apps that send push notifications and pop-ups on subscription. In the present area of emerging artificial intelligence and push-based mobile paradigm, the content reaches out to find the users based on their needs and navigation history. Thus, organizations and businesses need to adopt mobile workplace native apps with their own branded app for employee engagement, on-boarding, HR operations, and internal communications. What are the benefits of an employee app in the mobile workplace? Before making the shift to mobile apps f or boosting employee performance, you should be aware of the advantages of this.Effective knowledge sharingevalevalA mobile app allows the exchange of enticing news alerts and blogs, articles, wikis, etc. much easier on the go. This helps the employees understand how they should use the mobile app in the workplace.A good policy gives all information such as the permitted and prohibited activities, supported platforms, restricted apps and settings, the course of action in case the device is lost or damaged.Permit access to the relevant mobile appsTry to strike a balance between ease of functionality and data security a nd provide the right services and apps to the employees. Since all workplace tools are not available freely, provide them with those that they need to do their jobs effectively.Implement updated technologies without shifting focus from the employee’s needsAs mobile technology is advancing very rapidly, you should not get caught up in the thrill of implementing recent technologies just for the sake of it, rather you need to weigh its importance and need while staying focused on the needs of your employees. Analytics can help you get an accurate picture here.Plan out ways to improve internal communications using these mobile appsCommunication between stakeholders and employees can be revolutionized with mobile apps as they host a wealth of data and employees can access information from anywhere, thus favoring communication technologies like emails, sending communications, receiving notifications, and distributing relevant information.evalConclusionAs mobile technology has become an integral part of our everyday life, it is by default an essential component of our organization as well. However, a more organized approach is needed in case of workplace mobile apps to increase the overall productivity of the employees.A few apps like Skype and slack can help you to get started with, but by investing effort and time, a native mobile app of your organization can reap the benefits of productive and happy employees.

5 office fashion tips to keep you warm and stylish this winter - Margaret Buj - Interview Coach

5 office fashion tips to keep you warm and stylish this winter Finding the perfect balance between comfort and style can be challenging, especially when youre wrapping up for the colder months. Here, Rachel Clinkard from shoe retailer Charles Clinkard gives her fashion tips to help you dress for the office this winter. It’s officially autumn and the winter is on its way, so you’ll probably be switching up your work wardrobe to keep you warm and cosy. But, knowing just what to wear to the office in the winter can be a difficult feat, as you’ll want to be comfortable, but you’ll still want to look professional. Luckily, I’ll be giving you my expert style tips to help you wrap up and look great for work this season. Layer up your workwear The key to keeping warm in the winter is to layer up. I’d always recommend starting with the thinnest layer first, adding thicker layers on top. Then, if you get too hot, you can easily remove the thickest piece to help you cool down. For women, you can earn some serious style points by wearing a turtleneck top underneath a chunky sweater. Pair this with some tailored trousers for a professional look that is still stylish. If you prefer to wear a skirt, you can add some extra warmth with thick wool or fleece-lined tights. For men why not slip on a cosy cashmere jumper over the top of your shirt? Or, bundle up with a cotton undershirt and turtleneck sweater. Then, you can add an extra layer in the form of your blazer or suit jacket for a modern look that’s straight from the catwalk. Choose your colour scheme The winter is usually associated with dark, earthy colours like grey, brown, cream or navy. And, while these colours can look great, why not add a dash of colour to brighten up those dark mornings? Mustard, and jewel colours like emerald green, ruby red and cobalt blue can really help to add a touch of vibrancy to your winter outfits. If you’re wanting to keep things understated, add one of these bright hues to your outfit through your accessories, like a bold scarf or pair of shoes, and stick to neutral earthy hues for the rest of your clothing. Be practical with your footwear In the winter, the rain, snow and ice can make for some pretty challenging surfaces. That means you’ll need to think carefully about your footwear. Not only will you want to opt for warm shoes, but you’ll need a pair with thick sturdy soles, too. For women, opt for long, below the knee or ankle length boots, or shoes with a block heel. Try to go for a pair with a rubber sole, as these can usually provide more traction and stability on slippery surfaces. Plus, if you choose a pair with a microfibre or fleece lining, you can help to keep your feet warm, even in snowy weather. For men, you can also opt for boots, like Chelsea boots or brogue boots, as these will help you avoid wet socks when you’re treading through puddles during your morning commute. Again, try to go for rubber soles if you can. Then, if you’re required to wear smart, business shoes for work, just keep a pair at the office and change into them. Pick your materials carefully When it comes to staying warm, you’ll want to pick your materials carefully. Fabrics like wool, cashmere, corduroy and flannel are great for keeping the cold out. Plus, you can layer these fabrics over the top of thinner, cotton pieces like undershirts. For shoes, you’ll want to pick materials that can be cleaned easily when you get in from the wet and muddy weather. Leather is a great choice for winter. Not only can you clean it using just a damp cloth, but it’s durable and warm, too. Just remember to treat them with a rain and stain protector regularly. If your shoes are starting to show signs of wear, you can restore their original shine using a leather shoe cream. Leather is also a better option for your accessories, like handbags and briefcases. Try to match your bag to your shoes if you can, as this can really help to coordinate your whole office look. Choose the perfect coat To really keep you warm through the winter months, you’ll want to invest in a thick coat. An oversized coat is a classic winter trend, and it’s got a smart sophistication that’s perfect for the office. They’re also great for wearing on top of all those layers! Of course, you’ll also want to think about practicality as well as style, so stay away from fur and fleece â€" these might look great, but they’re not going to fare well in the wet and windy weather. Instead, opt for a lightweight, waterproof parka or trench coat. A wool duffel or pea coat can look very stylish, and they’ve got a smart look that’s ideal for work. You could even add a touch of catwalk style into your winter wardrobe with a padded puffer jacket. They are a timeless investment for autumn/winter seasons and they’re great for keeping you warm and dry in the colder months. Finding the perfect winter office wardrobe is no easy feat. But, by following the tips in this guide, you can feel cosy and look stylish, whatever the weather.

The Resume and The Life-Long Learner

The Resume and The Life-Long Learner Most people use the Education section of their resumes to list their degrees to show their qualifications for a particular position. This section of the resume seems pretty cut and dried. List schools, cities and dates of attendance and move on to distributing the resume. However, in todays difficult economy, being competent may not be enough to land you that coveted first step to a job: being named as a candidate. You need to show the potential employer how you are going to wow them, exceed their wildest dreams, and how you will solve their most difficult problems. You can do this by showing the employer that you are a life-long learner. By all means, list your degrees on your resume and leave off their dates of completion if you feel that it dates you. But make an effort to keep learning and to update your skills. Add related skills to your professional resume that will build on your primary skill sets. Go to workshops. Take continuing education classes, set aside time for informative webinars. Knowledge becomes quickly obsolete in this age of technology; those who keep learning and use that knowledge in their careers are the employees who will be most productive and get noticed by management. It isnt as difficult as it sounds. Yes, learning does take time, but you get the opportunity to experiment during work and see which skills work in a given situation and which dont. This is valuable knowledge, and it deserves a place on your resume, right under your degree list. Make it snazzy. For example, dont just list Internet Search Webinar. Make sure you list the appropriate webinar name such as Weddles Guide to Internet Searches. Weddles is a respected and known name within the job search industry. The name signifies that you learned valuable information by attending this webinar. Above all, be prepared to talk about any new experiences you listed on your resume with an interviewer. Tell how this new learning can resolve employer problems and how it can be used to train other employees. Make a case for life-long learning, and you may just start a trend at your new workplace to give employees funds and time off to pursue new learning.
